TagTruth

overview.

For ENT 0101: Entrepreneurship & Business Planning at Tufts University, our six-person team selected an industry and created an original venture from the ground up. We chose fashion technology and developed TagTruth, a concept that helps online shoppers evaluate clothing quality through product search, traceability, and ratings for price, comfort, and durability. As Chief Product Officer, I helped shape the customer persona, product features, market analysis, competitive positioning, business model, prototype, and launch roadmap.

challenge.

Online shoppers often have limited information about a garment’s quality before purchasing, making it difficult to judge its comfort, durability, and overall value. Our challenge was to create a solution shoppers could understand and trust, while identifying a focused initial audience and clearly explaining why TagTruth offered more value than brand pages, review sites, and existing supply-chain tools.

PRODUCT MARKETING STRATEGY

PRODUCT MARKETING STRATEGY

We positioned TagTruth around a simple promise: making clothing quality easier to understand before purchase. We identified women ages 18–34 who buy going-out apparel through TikTok and Instagram as our initial target audience, representing an estimated $59 million beachhead market.

COMPETITIVE POSITIONING

COMPETITIVE POSITIONING

We compared TagTruth with brand pages, consumer-review platforms, and supply-chain transparency tools, including Thingtesting, Consumer Reports, Trustrace, Sourcemap, Higg Index, and Sedex. We positioned TagTruth as a more consumer-friendly option that combined quality ratings with an AI fabric analyzer, predictive durability scores, wear-tested community data, and brand-transparency checks.

GO-TO-MARKET STRATEGY

GO-TO-MARKET STRATEGY

We developed a launch plan centered on educational content, short-form videos, creator partnerships, founder storytelling, and the #ScanYourTruth campaign. The roadmap also included testing the prototype with shoppers, refining the product’s copy and information layout, securing early brand partners, launching pilot programs, and tracking engagement before expanding beyond the initial market.

outcome.

Our team produced a complete venture concept, product prototype, positioning strategy, business model, financial plan, and launch roadmap. At the end of the course, we presented TagTruth to external judges from Greentown Labs and Tufts University’s Derby Entrepreneurship Center, receiving feedback on the target customer, value proposition, product features, and future direction.
